Oh has it ever been STEAMY over here on the east coast. I am just not used to this humidity thing and I don’t think I ever will be! I’m such a complainer when it comes to weather that isn’t as mild as the Bay Area, which happens to be dry, warm and then overcome with the incredibly magical INDIAN SUMMER! Anyway, I have been super dehydrated lately and decided that I needed to bring coconut water back in my life. So this concoction was made right before I laid out on my roof and read the June Vogue. Ahhhh the life of an undergrad, I KNOW! Seriously dreamy. All you gotta do is slice up some grapefruit, layer with ice and add coconut water (I chose pineapple flavored). And in a mason jar? So country chic, no doubt.
Okay, I have a new creative endeavor and it is making COASTERS. Oh word! I haven’t started yet, but after reading pages and pages of i suwannee, I am becoming obsessed with interior design and all things DESIGN. There are so o o many creative people out there! I might as well try to contribute to this beautiful world and I think coasters could be a groovy start. Also, I love finding amusing quotes and aren’t these aaaaamazing? A wise bartender advising Ron Burgundy, the queen B and her ladyship, Jane Austen! All designed on Adobe Illustrator and the watercolors reigning from here, here and here! PS: Logo = fancy
Recently, I get most of my thinking done when I’m laying on my roof getting all BRONZY and being incredibly silly with my friends. Seriously, SO SILLY! I laugh until I cry at LEAST once a day, which is how I believe it should be! Sometimes we listen to the Celine Dion Pandora station and other times, we listen to European club music and pretend like we’re on a yacht. Today was one of those days where we pretended like we were on a yacht and listened to ST. TROPEZ over and over again because it’s so CATCHY! Naturally, I became inspired for a casual-yet-chic-and-kinda-trendy outfit (basically, always my goal) and brainstormed this gold, turquoise and cayenne colored spread. Imagine wearing this outfit and throwing your hair up in a messy bun, putting some aviators on, paired with a shimmery nude lip. DYING!
In recent news, Pearl sent me a box of some of my old clothes that were in storage. An old Marc by Marc Jacobs skirt and silk top, a million bathing suits from multiple visits to Newport Beach to visit CVD where she convinced me that bathing suits were life circa 2005, a pair of sandals from Paris, the dress I wore on the 4th of July when Kailey lived in San Francisco, etc. It was like CHRISTMAS! Look at these Mystique starfish sandals I owned in 8th grade that I probably bought for $65, and are now $110! And amongst the vogue pieces from my adolescent age, Pearl threw in my old DREAM STREET t-shirt. THANK GOD it’s back in my life! When I was eight years old, I waited five hours outside a Toys R Us to meet them (I need to find those pictures) and cried as I hugged Chris Trousdale. Jeez, I can be so DRAMATIC!

- And….. that time Mook and I walked in a summer storm to get Ben and Jerry’s. He finished that banana split before I finished my double scoop. Boys!

Today was a lay-around-in-my-bikini day, catch-up-on-blogs day, get-design-inspired day and ultimately, it was a LAUNDRY DAY!
The other night, I went out in a Canadian tuxedo. Do you know what that means? DENIM ON DENIM! I really don’t know why I did it, denim on denim is pretty weird. But I thought it was hilarious! I was laughing at myself the whole time.. I LOVED IT! I’ve decided that summer in your college town is just a whole lot of random! Last night, I went to the bar with friends and we all decided to wear weird t-shirts. Mook’s shirt was bright orange and said, “TUBBIES RULE” and I was wearing a Dale Earnhardt shirt that was too big for me. Why not? Live ya life! PS: I caved to trendiness and have been sporting the disco nail on both hands! Not going to lie, I feel FUN!
I just love this quote. And making GOLD graphics! I feel so inspired to CREATE and DESIGN after I texted my sweetest friend EKD the other day (and caught up on her blog!) During lunch in high school, we would sit in the art room, eat almond butter and jam sandwiches and get out all of our creative energy through painting and collaging. Those were the days! Anyway, we have decided to be creative pen pals and text each other a little creative thing everyday, such as an outfit, something design-like, the sunshine, etc! EKD used to mass text all our friends in the morning with the BEST inspirational words! I miss standing in line for Starbucks and having all our friends’ phones buzz at the same time, it was the best!
JORTS! Totally my new obsession of the summer.. especially since they were only $2.50 at Goodwill! INSANE! They are so comfortable and FUN to skip around town in! Pairing them with wedges, a white tank top and gold accessories makes them even more fun. WAIT, adding tart deco to the nails makes the look even better. This outfit totally reminds me of being in CALIFORNIA for the summer. Oh jeez, I’ve been missing the golden state so much as of late. That’s probably why I’ve been playing California Girls by The Beach Boys (my ringtone, naturally!), California Girls by Katy Perry, California English by Vampire Weekend, California by Phantom Planet (Ryan Atwood omg) and California Love by Tupac on repeat this whole sunny afternoon! Ridiculous, I KNOW!
